Overlooking the bluffs of the Mississippi River
on the Southern University campus at Baton Rouge,
the Southern University Museum of Art features African and African-American art. All the galleries
are dedicated to the display of art from
regions including Mali, Nigeria, the Ivory Coast, Cameroon
and the Congo.
Included in the permanent collections of African-American art are works by John Biggers, Phoebe
Beasley, Allen Rohan Crite, Elizabeth Catlett
